Taylor Earns Titans First CCIW Defensive Player of the Week Accolade of the Season

Second weekly award in Taylor’s career

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Faceoff specialist and senior Zac Taylor (Brighton, Mich.-Brighton) of the Illinois Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Defensive Player of the Week, announced by the conference Monday, May 2. Taylor is the first Titan to win the defensive distinction this season and is the fourth Titan to receive a conference weekly award this season. This is just the second weekly honor in Taylor's career.

In IWU's final regular season game Saturday, April 30 Taylor aided the Green and White to a 25-15 victory over Elmhurst University to not only clinch the CCIW Regular Season title, but also secured the Titans fourth straight unblemished CCIW record.

The Brighton, Mich. native went 19-for-25 at the X for a 0.760 faceoff win percentage against the Bluejays. Taylor ranks fourth in conference only stats in faceoff wins with an overall 0.698 clip. The senior also added one caused turnover and 12 ground balls.

Taylor and the Titans now head into CCIW Tournament play, beginning with a semifinal game Friday, May 6 inside Tucci Stadium against fourth-seeded Transylvania University. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
