Ocheltree Tabbed CCIW Golfer of the Week

Earns first career weekly award

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Days removed from her first collegiate win, freshman Natalie Ocheltree (Normal, Ill.-University High) of the Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team earned her first career College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin's Golfer of the Week award, announced by the organization Thursday, Sept. 24. Ocheltree is the first member from the program to receive the award this season after seven Titans took home the distinction last season.

Ocheltree fired five rounds throughout the week for a stroke average of 73.4 at the 54-hole Redbird Invitational and the 36-hole IWU Fall Classic. At the par-72, 6177 Weibring Golf Course, Ocheltree solidified a tie for 14th finish, in a predominantly Division I tournament, with rounds of 73, 75, and 76.

She started the weekend with an even-par 72 at the IWU Fall Classic, Sept. 19. Her first round was followed by a career-low one-under 71, overcoming a seven-stroke deficit to take the trophy. Ocheltree buried a 10-foot par putt on 18 to force a scorecard playoff, eventually winning based on her final round back-nine score of 36. Her two-round score of 143 shot at the 5823-yard Ironwood Golf Course is the fourth-lowest in program history. Her final day 71 is the first under-par round by a freshman in program history.

Ocheltree and the rest of the Titan squad head north for the UW-Whitewater Invite at TPC Wisconsin in Madison, Wis., Sunday-Monday, Sept. 27-28.
