CCIW Release

NAPERVILLE, Ill.-
Illinois Wesleyan University men's tennis senior
Ian Turnbull (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) earned his first College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Player of the Week award, Tuesday, Feb. 24, announced by the league office. This is the first outright CCIW player of the week honor for Turnbull after being named co-player of the week twice during the spring of 2024 and once in 2023.

Turnbull played a critical role in a doubleheader sweep for the Titans in wins over Monmouth College and Principia College. Against the Fighting Scots, the Bloomington, Ill. native picked up a 6-1 doubles win with fellow senior Ben Vigneri (Casper, Wyo.-Phillips Exeter) over Matthew Savage and Antonio Perez.

Against Principia, the senior tandem took down Jesus Soto and Alvaro Moliz, 6-2 before Turnbull nabbed a 6-3, 6-4 singles win over Soto. The hometown product currently sits at 4-0 in singles and 4-1 in doubles in the spring of 2026, leading IWU to its best start since 2010-11 at 5-0.

The Titans are back in action Saturday, Feb. 28, against Greenville University and Olivet Nazarene University. Action begins at 10:15 a.m. at Evergreen Racquet Club.
