BLOOMINGTON, Ill.- The Illinois Wesleyan University women's tennis team swept Concordia University Chicago, 7-0, Wednesday, Oct. 14 at Evergreen Racquet Club in its fall finale. The Titans improve to 6-5 (4-4 CCIW) while the Cougars fall to 1-10 (1-6 NACC).

IWU ran through the doubles session, winning all three matches. Sophomores Adia Douglas (Flossmoor, Ill.-Homewood-Flossmoor) and Elana Religioso (Mahomet, Ill.-Mahomet-Seymour) won 6-1 at the top spot over Brianna Bentz and Hannah Upole. Freshmen Lexi Burton (Metamora, Ill.-Metamora Township) and Holly Turnbull (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) blanked Mia Engleman and Amirah Shakir, 6-0. On court three, freshmen Lydia Ryherd (Chatham, Ill.-Chatham Glenwood) and Aubrey Dickey (Antioch, Ill.-Antioch Community) took down Abby Krueger and Sarah Gustafson, 6-2.

In singles, senior Amber Ehrlich (Springfield, Ill.-Glenwood) needed less than an hour to finish her match over Bentz, winning 6-0, 6-0 at the top spot. Freshman Alassea Michel (Dunlap, Ill.-Dunlap) was not far behind with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Engelman. Junior Katie Van Heuklon (Normal, Ill.-Normal West) cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 win over Shakir at No. 3 singles. Religioso blanked Upole 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4. Senior Olivia Bell (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) defeated Krueger 6-0, 6-1 on court five. Freshman Avery Anderson (Normal, Ill.-Normal Community) earned her first career win with a 6-4, 6-1 triumph over Gustafson.

The Titans preparation for the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Tournament season resumes in February when the spring season begins.
