Ludwig Breaks Own Single-Round Record at Wartburg Spring Invite

Four Titans in top-20 individually

WAVERLY, Iowa - The 17th-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team is one stroke off the lead as senior Macy Ludwig (Effingham, Ill.-St. Anthony) broke her own program single-round scoring record on day one of the Wartburg Spring Invite Friday, April 4, at Prairie Links Golf and Event Center. IWU finished two-under par as a team, carding a 286 to hold a share of second, while Ludwig fired a six-under 66.

Ludwig, who holds a one-stroke lead in the 98-player field, broke her previous program-best round by one stroke. The senior used six birdies and an eagle on her final hole, the par-four, 316-yard 18th hole, to reset the record.

Seniors Jacque O'Neill (Harbor Springs, Mich.-Harbor Springs) and Jadyn Spinks (Bloomington, Ill.-University High) continued their twin-like trend with a pair of one-over 73s. Sophomore Nora Cerroni (Waukesha, Wis.-Waukesha West) birdied two of her final three holes to finish two-over with a 74.

As a team, Illinois Wesleyan is one stroke off the lead, currently held by 10th-ranked St. Kate's (285). IWU is tied with 25th-ranked Grinnell at 286, while St. Kate's 'B' (291) and Dubuque (295) round out the top-five. Illinois Wesleyan's 'B' team is 10th with a score of 321.
