Dave Wrath Academic All-CCIW Fall Honorees Announced

Hlavacek & Ludwig earn Jack Swartz Award

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin announced the recipients of the Academic All-Conference honors from the 2024 fall season, Friday, Feb. 3. A total of 84 Illinois Wesleyan student-athletes were recognized on the Dave Wrath Academic All-CCIW team, while senior football player Josh Hlavacek (Plainfield, Ill.-Plainfield North) and senior women's golfer Macy Ludwig (Effingham, Ill.-St.Anthony) were named IWU's Jack Swartz Awardwinners.

The CCIW Academic All-Conference list comprises those individuals who achieved an overall grade-point average of 3.30 or above and have served at least one year in residency at their respective school.

Additionally, the CCIW announced all of the recipients of the Jack Swartz Academic All-Conference award. Each CCIW member institution selects two student-athletes (one male & one female) from each of the three sports seasons (fall, winter, spring) to be honored as Jack Swartz Academic All-Conference members. To be eligible, an individual must have an overall grade point average of 3.50 or above and have served at least one year in residency at their respective school.

Hlavacek, a First Team All-CCIW selection, was a co-captain for the Titans this past season. The Plainfield, Ill. native was named to the D3football.com All-Region 5 Third Team after a season in which he posted a career-high 41 tackles with nine tackles for loss, five sacks, and six quarterback hurries. As co-captain for the Titans, he notched a season-high nine tackles at Central, Sept. 7, and posted two TFLs and two sacks at Elmhurst, Sept. 21, both of which were season-bests. He holds a 3.76 grade point average as a biology major.

In the midst of an outstanding senior season, Ludwig turned in a sensational fall for the Titans. She played in five tournaments, posting four top-10 finishes, three of which were top-five placements. Ludwig won the CCIW Championship with a 54-hole total of 218 (71-72-73) to help lead Illinois Wesleyan to the conference title in record-breaking fashion. The Effingham, Ill. product guided IWU to its third consecutive conference championship. Additionally, Ludwig was named the conference's golfer of the week for the fourth time in her career. Additionally, she received the CCIW Elite 26 award, presented to the student-athlete who excels academically and athletically at the conference level in each of the CCIW's 26 sponsored sports.
