Calvin Named Throws Coach for Track & Field

Recent ISU graduate will also assist in strength and conditioning

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - After an accomplished collegiate career at Illinois State University, Logan Calvin was announced as the Illinois Wesleyan University track and field throws coach Wednesday, Aug. 10, by Director of Track and Field Chris Schumacher and Head Men's Track and Field Coach Todd Lowder. In addition to his work with the Titan throwers, Calvin will also serve as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning coach for the Green and White.

Calvin concluded his time as a Redbird this past spring, where he was a First Team All-American. At ISU, Calvin won the Missouri Valley Conference Weight Throw title with the third-best heave in Illinois State history and placed sixth in shot put at the national meet. Calvin notched a 14th-place finish at the Toyota United States Track and Field Outdoor World Championship qualifier He was an nine-time MVC Male Field Athlete of the Week selection and was honored as a MVC Scholar-Athlete four times. Twice named to the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Team, Calvin was voted the 2021 Missouri Valley Track and Field Scholar Athlete of the Year. Additionally, he was a seven-time All-MVC performer.

A native of Bloomington, Ind., Calvin graduated with a degree in exercise science in May of 2022. He is also a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
