Women’s Tennis Named ITA All-Academic Team

Five women’s tennis players honored as scholar-athletes

TEMPE, Ariz.- The Illinois Wesleyan University women's tennis team was named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Team along with five Titans honored as ITA Scholar-Athletes. Seniors Anna Cooper (Mt. Prospect, Ill.-Prospect), Maria Poehls (Wauwatosa, Wis.-Wauwatosa), and Ashley Mohr (Morton, Ill.-Morton), and freshmen Amber Shuang (Beijing-Beijing Normal U High) and Marissa Hagler (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal West) were recognized. 

To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete you must have a GPA of at least 3.5 or higher and be on the institution's eligibility list. To receive a team distinction a program must have achieved a minimum GPA of 3.2 or higher.

For the 2021-22 academic year, 940 Division III women's student-athletes were named ITA Scholar-Athletes, while 125 women's tennis programs received All-Academic Team distinction.
