Lansford named to second team, Huber third team selection

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -
The Illinois Wesleyan University women's basketball team saw senior Brooke Lansford (Leawood, Kan.-Blue Valley West) and freshman Lauren Huber (Lombard, Ill.-Glenbard East) named to the D3hoops.com All-Region 8 squads Tuesday, March 15. Lansford was a second team honoree, while Huber earned third team status.


Illinois Wesleyan was one of three schools with multiple student-athletes recognized in Region 8 as Wisconsin Lutheran and Millikin also had two selections.Additionally, Huber was one of just two freshmen recognized as part of the organization's postseason teams (Anaya Davis - Rockford).

Lansford, a co-captain for the Green and White, led the Titans at 13.2 points per game. A unanimous All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin First Teammer, Lansford led the CCIW in assists at 4.1 helpers per game. Lansford was named the CCIW's Player of the Week two times this season, while she also earned D3hoops.com Team of the Week honors once. She posted single-game highs of 32 points (vs. Carthage - Feb. 5), seven rebounds (vs. Wheaton - Feb. 12), seven assists (vs. Wheaton - Feb. 12), and five steals (at Elmhurst - Jan. 10).

Huber put together a breakout freshman campaign for the Titans, leading to First Team All-CCIW honors. She averaged 12.7 points per game, second to only Lansford, while she led IWU with 6.2 rebounds per contest. Huber was the only freshman in the CCIW to rank in the conference's top-10 in scoring and rebounding. She boasted the second-best field goal percentage in the conference at 50.9. Huber posted three double-doubles and five 20+ point games. 

Illinois Wesleyan claimed a share of the CCIW Regular Season Championship before winning the CCIW Tournament Championship en route to the program's fifth straight NCAA Tournament appearance. The Titans advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, where the Green and White's season came to an end. IWU finished the year with a 20-9 record, including a 14-2 CCIW mark.
