Onsrud & Thorman Set Single-Round Record on Day One at Westbrook Invite

Duo fires first sub-70 rounds in program history

PEORIA, Ariz. - Sophomores Lexi Onsrud (Normal, Ill.-University High) and Emma Thorman (Macomb, Ill.-Macomb) set the school's single-round record and are tied for first place individually, while the Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team sits tied for third after day one of play at the Westbrook Invite Saturday, March 12. The Titans carded an opening round 303 and sit six strokes off the lead after 18 holes of play at the par-71, 5810-yard Westbrook Village Golf Club Lakes Course.

Onsrud and Thorman fired three-under 68s to break the IWU single-round record, as the first Titan players to record sub-70 rounds. The two sit tied atop the individual standings with a two-stroke advantage. Freshman Macy Ludwig (Effingham, Ill.-St. Anthony) sits tied for 32nd at 11-over, while freshmen Jacque O'Neill (Harbor Springs, Mich.-Harbor Springs) and Jadyn Spinks (Bloomington, Ill.-University High) rank 39th and tied for 46th, respectively.

Sophomore Kira Petersen (Parker, Colo.-Chaparral) and freshman Kylie Hundman (Bloomington, Ill.-Central Catholic), who are playing as individuals, are tied for 40th.

George Fox leads the team standings with a first round score of 297, while Redlands is second at 301. IWU and Claremont Mudd Scripps are tied for third at 303, while Trinity and Bethel are tied for fifth (307).
