BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - With the 2022-23 indoor season quickly approaching for the Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field programs, the Green and White will host the Titan First Chance meet, Saturday, Dec. 10 at the Shirk Center. The first event, men's and women's shot put, is scheduled for noon.

The highly anticipated season will feature six-of-the-seven indoor meets hosted by IWU. In fact, the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Indoor Championships will run through Bloomington as the Green and White will host the two day meet, Feb. 24-25, for the first time since the 2019-20 campaign.

There will be an admission fee to attend this weekend's meet. The price breakdown can be seen below:

$20 Family Single Game Pass (includes admission for all immediate family members; must enter contest together)
$7 Adults
$4 Visiting college students and high school students with ID
$4 Senior citizens over age 62
$2 Children ages 6-13
Free Illinois Wesleyan students, faculty and staff (including retirees) with ID; also children under age 5

Prior to the meet, Illinois Wesleyan track and field will recognize 1964 graduate Bill Faulkner. Faulkner graduated with a degree in business administration and saw a vital role on the track, especially during the 1963 campaign. Bill Faulkner won the 220 yard dash with a time of 21.9 and he was the lead leg in the mile relay team that earned second place in the CCIW Chamipionship race. Additionally, he jumped to a third place finish in the high jump, second in the 100 yard dash (9.9 seconds), fourth in the 440 yard run (51.3), and fourth in the 220 yard dash (21.7).

Saturday's meet will feature a wide variety of teams, including a pair of Division II and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) institutions, along with a plethora of Division III talent. University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis and St. Mary-of-the-Woods are the pair of NAIA institutions, while Quincy University and Maryville University will represent schools at the DII level. Millikin University, Fontbonne University, Greenville University, Eureka College, Benedictine (Ill.) University, and Wabash College are also set to compete in the Titan First Chance.

Twenty-five student-athletes will make their collegiate debut on Saturday. The men's program welcomed 18 newcomers, while the women's team brought in seven. Head coach Todd Lowder enters his second season at the helm of the men's program. Director of track and field and the head women's coach, Chris Schumacher, begins his 25th season with the Green and White.

The men's program returns its top-two finishers from last season's CCIW Indoor Championships. Senior Keondre Schumacher (Bloomington, Ill.-University High) took home third and fifth place in the 200 meter and 55 meter sprint, respectively. Additionally, senior Drew Tatlock (North Pekin, Ill.-Pekin Community) leaped to a fifth place finish in the high jump.

For the women's side, three of the top-six finishers are back wearing a Titan uniform from last year's CCIW Indoor Championships. Junior Lauren Wong (Morton, Ill.-Morton) secured a second place finish in the triple jump. Sophomore Evelyn Wilson (Geneseo, Ill.-Geneseo) notched a tie for third in the high jump event. Claiming fourth in the pentathlon, senior Kinlee Miller (Tuscola, Ill.-Tuscola) rounds out the list.
