NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Senior Caelyn Steffens (Normal, Ill.-Normal Community) of the Illinois Wesleyan University women's soccer team was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season and fifth in her career Tuesday, Oct. 25. Steffens' seven-point week finished off a spectacular conference season in which the senior established herself as the CCIW single-season record holder for goals and points.

Steffens' hat trick over Elmhurst University, Oct. 19 is the third hat trick she has recorded this season alone. Additionally, it was the eighth time in her career where she scored three-or-more goals in a single game. The three goals scored against the Bluejays pushed Steffens to a total of 17 goals this season and 15 in conference matches. Additionally, after an assist at No. 19 North Central College, Oct. 22, the senior has tallied a total 32 points over an eight-game CCIW slate, and 37 total on the year. Steffens' 15 goals and 32 points beats out the previous CCIW record of 13 goals scored and 30 points in a single season set by Sarah Johnson from Wheaton College during the 2003 season.

The Normal, Ill. native is ranked first in the CCIW in points (37) and goals (17). Steffens also ranks second among active career-leaders across all divisions in the NCAA for most goals scored with 69. Her career-total points of 161 sits second among active career leaders as well.

After the win against Elmhurst, team co-captain Steffens and IWU, earned its second straight CCIW Regular Season Championship and fifth in program history. Already the No. 1 seed heading into IWU's final conference match, the Titans capped its CCIW season with a 6-1-1 record.
