Cross Country Completes Midwest Medicine XC Classic

Women’s team finishes seventh, while men’s team finishes ninth

GENEVA, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Midwest Medicine XC Classic, Saturday, Oct 1. Both races were held at the Northwestern Medicine Cross Country Course. The women ran the 6k course, while the men tackled the 8k course. The women's team finished in seventh place, while the men's team came in ninth place of the 15 teams racing.

Central College took home first in both races, as the women compiled 52 points behind individual champion Caroline McMartin with a time of 22:43.1, and the men accumulated 21 points.

For the women's team, sophomore Annalese Chudy (Libertyville, Ill.-Libertyville) was the top finisher, coming in eighth place in the field of 195 with a time of 23.40.0 for the Titans. Freshman Adriana Crabtree (Normal, Ill.-University High) was the next Titan to cross the finish line, coming in 31st with a time of 24:50.2.

On the men's side, out of 212 competitors, senior J.D. Barrett (Tuscola, Ill.-Tuscola) ran a 27:15.5 to finish 25th for the Green and White. Barrett was followed by sophomore Nick Fisch (Woodridge, Ill.-Montini Catholic) who finished 40th with a time of 27:42.4.

The Green and White will trek to compete in the Augustana Invitational, Saturday, Oct. 15 for the team's next competition. The races will take place at Saukie Golf Course in Rock Island, Ill. with a start time of 11 a.m.
