Sanders Selected as CCIW's Defensive Player of the Week

Titans went 4-1 in opening week of season

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Junior Grace Sanders (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Defensive Volleyball Player of the Week Tuesday, Sept. 7. It is the first honor of Sanders' career.

The Bloomington, Ill. native helped the Titans to a 4-1 record in the first week of the season, including a four-set win over 24th-ranked Susquehanna at the Captains Classic. 

She began the week with a season-high 13 kills and 14 digs in IWU's sweep of Illinois College, Sept. 1. She then picked up a season-best 20 digs in the Titans' tilt with Clarkson, Sept. 4. Sanders finished the week with a team-high 55 digs, good for 3.24 per set. Playing all around, she also added 28 kills on a .226 attacking percentage and contributed five aces and four blocks for the Green and White.

Illinois Wesleyan returns to action Wednesday evening, Sept. 8, for a 6 p.m. first serve against ninth-ranked Chicago. Links to the live stream and live stats can be found by clicking here.
