BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Senior Emmett Zima (Park Ridge, Ill.-Maine South) of the Illinois Wesleyan University football team was named to the Academic All-District Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America Thursday, June 10. He will advance to the Academic All-American ballot.

Zima, a captain for the Titans during the 2020-21 academic year, graduated with a degree in accounting last month. He boasted a 3.74 grade point average.

During Zima's time donning the Green and White, Illinois Wesleyan amassed a 25-9 overall record and won two College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championships. He recorded 62 tackles, 35 solo and 27 assisted. He finished with 10.5 tackles for loss, including five sacks, and also recovered a fumble.

He was the winner of the IWU's "Doug Schmied Award", voted on by the coaches for loyalty, leadership, citizenship, most sports- and team-minded, and attitude. The honor is named for Schmied, the Illinois Wesleyan senior offensive lineman who passed away in 2005.

CoSIDA's Academic All-America teams will be announced later this month.
