Onsrud Named Division III Golf Pride WGCA Assistant Coach of the Year

Titans posted best NCAA finish since 2013

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - The Women's Golf Coaches Association named Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf assistant coach Craig Onsrud the Division III Golf Pride Assistant Coach of the Year Wednesday, May 26. A full list of Division III awardees can be found here.

In 2005, the Women's Golf Coaches Association began recognizing the outstanding Assistant Golf Coach of the Year. This coach can be at a Division I, II or III institution. Criteria that is reviewed includes Coaching Experience, Coaching Record  (Outstanding tournament wins and NCAA finishes, specifically record and improvement for current year), Professional Contributions, and Honors Received in Golf. The Assistant Coach must be a current member of the WGCA. Nominations will be accepted from either the Head Coach of the same team or another WGCA member.  The recipient receives a complimentary registration to the next WGCA Member Convention and is recognized at the Business Meeting during the Convention.

Onsrud, who is the head golf professional at Normal's Ironwood Golf Course, has been volunteering his time to the Illinois Wesleyan women's golf team since 2001. A three-time Central Illinois PGA "Teaching Professional of the Year" honoree, Onsrud helped guide the Titans to their best NCAA Championship finish since 2013 as IWU tied for ninth.

A native of Stoughton, Wis, Onsrud is a graduate of Illinois State University, where he played collegiate Division I golf.
