IWUsports.com will highlight the accomplishments of the spring sport seniors over the next few weeks

With the COVID-19 pandemic resulting in the cancellation of the majority of the spring sports season, more than 50 Illinois Wesleyan seniors saw their athletic careers come to an end. Due to this and the inability to provide our student-athletes with a traditional Senior Day sendoff, IWUsports.com will share Senior Spotlight profiles over the next several weeks to highlight these Titans and their accomplishments.

Mia Massaro hails from Homer Glen, Ill. and was a four-year letterwinner for the IWU softball team.

"Mia is extremely versatile on the field and is talented in so many areas on and off the field," Head Coach Tiffany Prager shared. "Her creative capabilities bring an inimitable dynamic to the team and her teammates."

Massaro appeared in 120 games during her career, making 65 starts. She posted a career fielding percentage of .955 at third base, including a perfect mark during the 2020 season with nine putouts and 12 assists. At the plate, she hit .286 with 61 hits, 26 RBI, and 17 walks.

As a junior, Massaro was named the team's Most Improved Player, as voted by her teammates. That same season, she earned NCAA Bloomington Regional All-Tournament Team status. Overall, Massaro helped the Titans amass a 125-40-1 overall record during her four-year IWU tenure, as well as three NCAA Division III Championship Tournament appearances.

Off the diamond, Massaro is a three-time Academic All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin honoree, as well a three-time NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete. She has also been a part of several community service projects with IWU softball, including Polar Plunge, Miracle League, and Thanksgiving service events at the Midwest Food Bank.

Massaro, who earned her degree in accounting with minors in hispanic studies and finance, has accepted a position as a Risk Consulting Associate for RSM in Chicago.
