BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Alumni/Titan Opener symbolizes the start of the 2019-20 season for the Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field teams. Action is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. in the field house of the Shirk Center.
IWU will host the men's and women's track and field teams from Aurora University, Fontbonne University, Greenville University, Illinois College, Lindenwood University, and Washington University in St. Louis.
The Titans return pole vaulter
Ethan Kett (Elmhurst, Ill.-York HS), who last season set a new school record at 16' 6.75". Additionally,
Zach Anderson (Algonquin, Ill.-Westminster Christian HS) returns to the field after earning All-American honors and a seventh-place finish at the NCAA Track and Field Indoor Track and Field Championships with a season-best mark of 55' 5" in the shot put event.Â
At last season's Titan Opener, Anderson won both the weight throw and shot put events with distances of 57' 4.25" and 49' 4.25", respectively.Â
On the women's side,
Ayana Blair (Wheeling, Ill.-Wheeling HS) placed third in the weight throw with a distance of 51' and
Nia Lee (Romeoville, Ill.-Romeoville HS) was fourth in the triple jump, finishing at 35' 10.75".
