NORMAL, Ill. -- Both the Illinois Wesleyan men's and women's cross country teams came out in first place in the season-opening IWU Titan Opener, run at Maxwell Park in Normal, Ill., on Friday, August 31.
On the 5K course, the Illinois Wesleyan men finished with 35 points, beating second place Millikin with 45 and Greenville University in third with 57.
IWU junior
Steven Raybould finished second with a time of 16:25.1, just topping third place
Matt Wagner in 16:25.2. Junior
Max Crowninshield placed fourth with a time of 16:28.0.
John Mangold of Greenville won the men's race with a time of 16:11.4.
The IWU women had three finish in the top 10 on the two-mile course and had 44 points. Second place Millikin scored 55 and Augustana had 57.
Freshman
Jenna Mirande finished in second place with a clocking of 11:57.9 and senior
Jillian Cole placed sixth in a time of 12:29.3
Freshman
Kayleigh Pitterman finished 10th in 12:46.5.
With a time of 11:51.1, Augustana's Abby Casey won the women's race.
What's Next?
Illinois Wesleyan's next meet will be the Wheaton Gil Dodds Invitational, run at St. James Farm in Warrenville, Ill., on Saturday, Sept. 15.
