BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The Illinois Wesleyan softball doubleheader against DePauw at 4 p.m. Tuesday is designated as "Military Service/Veteran's Day" at IWU softball field, recognizing those currently serving and veterans from each branch of the military.
For the second annual event, the Titans will be wearing camouflage uniforms and batting helmets to show support for our veterans and honor their service and, prior to the game, the team will recognize each branch of the military and ask those currently serving and veterans to stand and be recognized prior to the National Anthem.
Members of the Illinois State University ROTC will present the colors and a military veteran will be throwing out the first pitch.
There will be a 50/50 raffle and donations will be accepted during both games to benefit the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, which serves U.S. military personnel wounded or injured in service to our nation, and their families. Supporting these heroes helps repay the debt all Americans owe them for the sacrifices they have made in service to our nation. For more information, click here for the
Fallen Heroes web site.
During the games, IWU will recognize by name the veterans in attendance for their service if they have 'signed in' at the front gate as well as those not in attendance but listed on the sign-in sheet.
At 5 p.m., there will be a complimentary meal to all those currently serving/veterans and their friends and families just west of the softball field.
