Doug Sexauer was named to the first team of the D3hoops.com all-Midwest region squad and the second team of all-region team named by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
Sexauer averaged 15.6 points per game and a team-high 5.8 rebounds per game. He shot .621 from the field (211 of 340), the fifth best single season effort in Illinois Wesleyan history. The Titans finished with a 23-8 record and advanced to the final eight in the NCAA Division III men's basketball championships.
The NABC Division III All-District teams were selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC.
Joining Sexauer on the second team were Aaron Thompson, Washington University; Scott Gillespie, Ripon; Ben Panner, Wheaton; and Austin Meier, Milwaukee School of Engineering.
Carthage junior Steve Djurickovic was the regional “Player of the Year” on both teams. He was joined on the NABC first team by John Hoch, Carroll; Sean Wallis, Washington University; Nick Sales, Defiance; Lance Robinson, Aurora; and Michael Zasada of Eureka.
This is the ninth year D3hoops.com has named an All-Region team, and in 2010 it came from a record 676 nominations by sports information directors.
With Djurickovic and Sexauer on the first team were Wallis; sophomore Tim McCrary of Wheaton; and sophomore Jake Schwartz of Lakeland.
On the second team were Hoch; Thompson; Sales; Zasada; and sophomore Travis Clark of Lake Forest.
Panner, Robinson and Gillespie were on the D3hoops.com all-region third team, along with sophomore Aris Wurtz of Ripon and junior Kyle Nelson of Augustana.
